What is a box phone farm?
A box phone farm is a chassis holding about twenty Android phone boards without screens, cases or batteries, powered and cooled together and connected to one PC. It is the dense, tidy way to run many phones.
Each board is a full Android phone: its own SIM slot or connection, its own accounts. From the apps' side there is no difference between a board and a handset.
How does a box connect to a PC?
Usually over one USB cable to the PC, with the boards behind an internal hub, sometimes with network control as well. The box's own software then shows every board's screen on the PC.
Automation talks to the boards the same way: either through that connection or, with MationX, through an app on each board that runs the flows on the phone itself and reports back, so the PC is not a single point that stops the farm.
What should you check before you buy a box?
The things that cause trouble later are boring ones:
- Android version
- Android 8 or newer, so current apps install and keep updating.
- Cooling
- Twenty boards in one chassis get warm; a box that throttles slows every flow on it.
- Power
- A stable supply sized for every board under load, not just idle.
- SIM or network per board
- Whether each board has its own SIM slot, and how proxies are set per board.
- Replacement boards
- Boards fail; check you can swap one without opening the whole box.
Box phones vs loose phones vs cloud phones
Boxes win on density and tidiness, loose handsets on cost and flexibility, cloud phones on having no hardware at all. Many farms end up with more than one.
MationX runs the same flows on all three, so the choice is about the space, the budget and the SIMs, not about the software. More on each in what a phone farm is and cloud phone automation.
What does the box's own software do, and what not?
It mirrors screens, powers boards on and off and repeats one action across many boards. It does not do different work on each board, follow a schedule per account or notice a ban.
That is the gap phone farm software fills: the box gives you twenty phones, the automation makes them twenty accounts that work on their own.
How do you automate the apps on every board?
Install an automation app on each board and give it flows that work inside the apps; MationX installs it for you, proves the flow on two boards, then rolls it out box by box.
One farm we run had its backend sending through the API four days after go-live, on stock Samsung phones in their own boxes. The numbers are on the homepage.
What fails on a box farm, and how do you catch it?
Boards drop off, apps update, accounts get restricted. The difference between a bad day and a bad week is whether anyone notices.
MationX watches every board, logs every run step by step, takes restricted accounts out of rotation, and fixes flows when an app changes. You see the state of the whole fleet in one place.
What does a box phone farm cost?
The automation is a one-off pilot from $1,000, then from $300 a month to run, monitor and fix the farm.
The monthly grows with the farm and the price per phone drops as it does; the pricing page has a slider for the monthly total. Phones, SIMs, proxies or cloud phones stay on your side, on your own accounts, and the cost calculator adds them up for your farm.
